My son and I have been grinding venison in the shop this evening. Emptying the freezer and getting ready for the new year. He does an awesome Jerky. Maggie has been a big help.

Like that A lol. I'm not sure what the guys are using that for.
Jarrods filling the bags 1.9 -1.10 pushing the air out of the bags.
Like that big Hobart grinder. I pick up from a friend who closed his mom and pop's grocery story 30 years ago. That is a prize possession.

Life's thrown a few curve balls lately, and I decided to punt on my muzzleloader buck and cow hunts. Teenager at home, boys, grades, questionable decisions. Enough said. Volatility subsided sufficiently, however, that I was able to sneak out this past weekend to help a friend for the last 2 days with his muzzleloader bull hunt. We left the house around 0900 Saturday, blitzkrieg pushed into a new canyon that afternoon, bull down by sunset, back to the truck after midnight, and a beautiful day packing elk on Sunday. A welcome respite from current events in my life, and a great time on the mountain with a great friend. AKA, therapy. Pic from Sunday.

We stopped in town after our hike for some wings and fries, and old fashioneds, at a High West distillery. That’ll likely suffice for breakfast, lunch and dinner. If not, there’s leftover chicken and dumplings in the fridge .
