They are one of the best tasting fresh water fish IMHO. I like them from about 15-20". If you keep a bigger one, I like them beer battered. And save the cheeks! That is the fillet mignon of the walleye.Wow! Those are huge. What is walleye similar to? Never fished for them.
I didn’t have a tape on the boat. My Sons 14lber he caught the weekend before was a little over 32”14 Pounders, wow! Those are amazing, thanks for setting them back. What were the lengths? 35+"?
Went out walleye fishing a week ago and caught some monsters. First big one was 14.84 lbs, and the second one was 14.34 lbs. I let these both go to spawn. We kept some males for dinner. Thanks to Duck_Slayer for asking me along.

Walleye taste similar to crappie in my opinion. Their cheek meat how ever are little nuggets of gold( they need to be 18” or bigger generally to get a good piece of cheek meet. Also another over looked piece of walleye meat are the “walleye wings” there is a good hunk of meat attached to the pectoral fins you can fillet off that are really yummy also.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M-Q2WmWNQ10Wow! I just tried out this recipe for the first time tonight and the family really liked it. A lot less messier than frying them.Thanks guys. Here is the recipie. I believe we used Panko crumbs for the breading. Click on the link below.
