Hilo Hawaii

Family is going to Hilo late December. I have been looking at charters for a month to go fishing while we are all down there. (I am gun shy as the last charter I went on was a very expensive whale watching trip that we caught nothing as the "seas were too bad to go where the fish are" however on that day a lot of other charters did very very well.) Anyway, I digress.

Does anyone have any information on fishing charters that are good on The Big Island and ones to avoid? Online the reviews are not all great, and some are borderline scary!

I just went out of Kona and can suggest a good boat if you are willing to drive over.

If it makes you feel any better we had a similar experience in Hawaii with a charter, but without the whales and with ongoing remarks about how important tips are. Good luck.
