Successful season(pics updated)

Had a pretty fun November this year. Started off on a mule deer hunt in some very cold conditions. Then ended the month filling a whitetail tag.

During the mule deer hunt we looked over a lot of deer. With the cold conditions, late season and snow on the ground, the deer were moving fairly good. Towards the end of the season more mature bucks were showing up in doe groups. We filled 3 tags this year with good bucks.

My 14 year old nephew was able to take his largest mule deer this year. He told us he was going to be picky and not shoot the first decent buck he saw. Well, he did what he set out to do. My brother had him putting in a lot of time behind the trigger leading up to the hunt.


My father in law held the 3rd and final tag for this years hunt. He’s never deer hunted before and after tagging along a few times, he wanted to give it a try. We found a good buck for him during an evening hunt. He made a 100 yard shot and knocked down a 27” buck. I was so focused on getting some pics of the buck, making sure my father in law was steady, watching the buck to stop him broadside, that after it all happened, the deer grew on me when I walked up to it. I think I was more excited what had just happened than he was lol
