So laughable. Stores up here stopped taking cheques probably fifteen years ago. Canada has always been WAY ahead of US on digital banking. People who can't get with debit cards can just learn to fiddle with cash. Majority of stores and drive through fast food during pandemic would ONLY accept plastic, no cash. I am so shocked down there that I still have to give up my card when paying for stuff at cafes and fast food. Man, that just doesn't happen here. Forbidden. The server brings a wireless card reader to the table or through the window. My cards are NEVER out of my sight here!

Nowadays I write cheques to church and the campground in Montana. That's it. All bills paid via e-banking and anything I buy at the store is debit. I haven't carried cash in my pocket for a couple of years ... except in Montana (car wash and laundromat don't take plastic).

Yeah, but that’s a 24” barrel instead of a 27” one. It makes a difference. I’m sure if all barrels were 27”, the magnum would push the same pill 150-200 fps faster, just because of case capacity.

I am in no way bashing the 280 AI. It’s one of my favorite cartridges, even above the rem mag. I just have a fondness for the 7mm for the performance it offers when you load it heavy.

A 7mag will absolutely not push same weight bullets 150-200fps faster than a same barrel length 280AI when the powder choice is optimized for both. People like to think that bigger cartridges are faster, but after a certain point it just isn’t true. My 280AI is beating the manual for a 7mag because I’m shooting WS2 coated bullets and pushing it pretty hard, not because it’s barrel is 1” longer than the 7mag data I quoted. 1” of barrel is worth about 27fps for the 280AI and 31fps for the 7mag.

Some barrels are fast or slow. Some guys are loading a less than optimal powder for the cartridge(in terms of too velocity) at less than max pressure in one cartridge and loading the perfect powder(in terms of max velocity) at max pressure in another cartridge, and then declare that X beats Y by 200fps, even when that isn’t quite true.

Below is load data for a 26” 280AI, 24” 7SAUM(basically the equivalent of a 280AI), and 26” 7Rem Mag. Max velocities are 2800fps for the Rem mag, 2801fps for the shorter barreled SAUM, and 2811 for the 280AI. Does that give you any reason to believe that a 7mag can beat a 280AI by 150-200fps?
