Soccer seasons were the longest 2 months of my life. Damn I was glad when my boy picked baseball.

I hear you noharley.
I'd rather pound my sack flat with a ball peen hammer as sit through another soccer game. An what's with those gay uniforms the referee's wear?

A bunch of kids running around kicking each other in the shins just doesn't do it for me either.

Ah the joy of being a young father and the pit falls of sitting by the sidelines watching your son play. I got involved as much as I could. Hope you do the same.

I raised 3 son's who all played soccer and were very good.

Moosie. All I can tell ya is to relax and don't take the games personal. Their kids having fun. What pissed me off more than anything was havng to lisson to some BOZO yelling at the reff and he's the only voice you hear.

Dido that for me....

We played soccer when we got bored with other 3 sports. We'd put on loggers, (large hunting type boots with big soles).. And play more of an aggressive type of soccer.

This is my 16th year coaching baseball, and my last, so hoping the kids have success and fun. It's competed with my bear hunting for a long time, and I'm looking forward to just hunting bear awhile. Maybe,(god willing) I'll even do a bit more work!...

Kids are Awesome !!! I would rather sit and watch a kids soccer game then go hunting. (Age 6-7). There is nothing like the Smile on a kids face when he's playing and scores a goal. Hell, Even if it's for the other team :) At that age it's just plain fun. The older boys (10 years) take it a bit more serious but practice is a hoot. I coached all last fall and assistant coached the years before. I guess I'm only a couple years into the coaching so I still think it's WELL worth it. Tomorrow (Errr later today I guess) is our first game. I'm excited for the kids !!!!

Moosie,

The thing I like best about soccer (as compared to other sports) is the pictures you can take of your kids with a good camera. Indoor action sports are difficult to photography due to the artificial lights and restrictions on flashes. Out doors, Football is horrible because you can't see faces but soccer is great because you have the natural light and you can get action pictures that include the kids faces.

I will generally take 200+ photos in a single soccer game, get about a dozen "absolutely priceless photos" of my daughter and her team mates. that I will print 5x7 and give them to them at the next practice. The parents all end up with pictures "suitable for framing" for their kid that are far better than the "stand with the ball" team photo.

Also, I will have a couple of hundred pictures at the end of the season to do a Season Long DVD for each kid, complete with tunes and titles.

Jose, took your Advice. Set up the Camera on the tripod and went to town !!!! I took 280 some odd pictures. In the mean time It kept me from losing my voice and not always swapping kids in and out too much :)

I'll get a couple on here. I'll need to separate out the pictures and post a couple. We won 6-2 but the kids really played well together. We have a couple of "Ringers" on the team so I don't worry about winning as much as letting all the kids play and giving the Defenders a chance to go offense and learn to agress people to instead of being stuck by the goal.

Zachs team, 2 years younger, lost their game. 1-6. He scored the only goal and it was towards the end. My dad went to that game and took 100 pictures as well. I'm going to do that same for that team. Hopefully they will all remember the soccer season coach Moose was involved !!!! :D Since they ran at the same time I was unable to go over and see it. I heard the Coach lifted Zach up after the goal and all the kids had a good time even with the loss. Thats a good coach for making all the kids feel good even after a loss I think. Even though it's his 1st year, the rest of us coaches couls learn alot from him I think.

Well, Mon, Wed,Thursday and then Sat morning games again. Only 6 weeks of this. I'm going to be bored when Soccer is over :( :(

One of my happiest days was when my oldest daughter said these majic words..."Dad, do I have to play this any more?" :D

Actually my younger two still enjoy the "sport" it's just hard for me to watch since it's something that most Geezers never played themselves. But the interaction with the kids is priceless and I get my "coaching fix" with Junior High Volleyball and Softball, Little League as well as assisting in basketaball.

at the end of the season to do a Season Long DVD for each kid

  That would mean watching the games AGAIN!! ;)

OK, the exact # was 283 pictures. 280, git yerself an education and you'd understand.

I can't see how any of you would get tiered of Kids and Soccer ? There is nothing better then haveing fun with kids and seeing them smile. Yesterday I taught the kids a new Game. It was called kick the coach. they had to take the Ball and kick it towards me and if they hit me it was a point. If they missed they ran after the ball. I was happy to not have the boyz kick WAY to hard. It showed that they didn't hate me. But after 5-6 minutes, they were all tiered and ran the whole time, learned ball kicking placement better, had fun doing it, and didn't even realize it.

it's fun for me because I can run around too and act like a kid ;)

Moosie can we play that game at the next HuntTalk get together??? hump

I can see lines longer than Disneyland to stand and take a shot at bouncing a ball off your melon...especially if you advertised over at MM! ;)

Gunner, I always take a bunch of pics as well of the kids sports and DVD them for the team (minus the gay music ;) ). It amazes me that some of the parents whose kids I've coached for 4+ years never take out a camera...guess they just think they'll be kids forever!

These were from our last tourney:

Marv,

Love the pictures.... Kids actually doing something rocks!! And for those that don't think soccer is a sport, they should ask this Keeper how she felt after getting carried off the field, injured, and beaten.....

We gotta work on keeping the eyes open on impact....

Marv,

Love the Fast Pitch pics. My soon to be 13 year old daughter loves softball. Has been pitching and it is getting harder and harder for me to catch for her. We start here at the end of April.
