Sounds like a great time! That buck looks like he'd been fighting a bit.

I actually watched him chase a two-point off the ridge on which he stood right before I shot him. He was a fat and healthy deer

Good times and great photos to prove it. I spent opening weekend in a trailer from 1964 and was pretty sure the wind was going to rip it to shreds around us Friday and Saturday nights. Really glad we found some earplugs for night 2. Sounded like a freakin freight train flying by most of the night!

I was just looking at the pictures again. So many things I love about this hunt...wall tents, meat over the fire, flannel clothing, coleman coolers, deer in the back of the truck. My kind of hunt.

Just finished trimming and wrapping all the meat. Total weight is 65 pounds in the freezer. Boned out but not trimmed I bet it was close to 80. I don’t know what the deer weighed alive but it had to have been close to over 200 . Largest deer I’ve killed by far and I don’t think a particularly old deer. Pre-rut and a summer of easy livin I guess.
