I’d forgotten your story about it last year.. bad cold, one day to hunt.. starting the day off medicinally.. certainly a reversal of circumstance if not fortune !

I had a pronghorn tag and a deer tag in my pocket. While out looking for pronghorn, this deer appeared and I shot him with the 22-250. I was undergunned, but it did the trick. For reference I weigh 250 pounds. This deer was big.

He was also conveniently close enough to the road that with the help of 3 other guys he came out whole along with some firewood.

I boiled his skull in camp

We skewered a chunk of his tenderloin on a piece of wood and cooked it on the fire. It was good, and my chest hair grew 3 inches longer.

I was invited on this hunt by a childhood friend and his father. We used his tents and he largely catered the whole thing. Though it shall never be named, he also showed me some new country to love and daydream about. Pretty dang lucky.

Looks like an absolute blast. What bullet were you shooting out of that 22-250 when you took that muley?
