I’ll be heading to the hills in SD in mid and late September. Mostly for vacation but i plan on scouting around some for deer and possibly do some archery hunting if things pan out. I’ll be focusing mostly on food sources. I know the low meadows are certainly one but are there any other food sources the deer use regularly?

I’ve been out there a few times and I’ve had trouble discerning exactly what they key in on. I imagine how the moisture has been throughout the year plays the biggest part.
Good luck, report back!

Hunt water. Check for sign on the many trails. Logging operations bring fresh growth tree tops down to ground level. NR's cannot hunt public til 01 oct. Enjoy the place, its beautiful. Hopefully doesn't start on fire anytime soon.
Fingers crossed the forecast holds and they get some rain this week
