On July 14th all the left over tags in Utah went on sale at 8:00 am. So I jumped onto wildlife.utah.gov at 7:58, refreshed a few times, loaded my tag into my cart at 8:00, checked out and got an error message... TWICE!!
I planned on hunting archery deer this fall, and the only left over archery deer tag unit was good ol' Box Elder. After total frustration of two failed attempts, I tried a third time and found that all the archery tags were sold out... gone!
Well the other day, I get an email from the Utah DWR that read:
Did anyone else get this awesome second chance?
I'm pretty excited about being able to chase deer and elk this fall, instead of just elk. I plan on using the Box Elder tag more for access to the Ogden and Wasatch Extended Areas than anything. My August and September will be consumed, hopefully, by pursuing elk!

On July 14th, 2016 there were a number of errors with the online payment portion of our license sales website during the first couple of hours that remaining buck deer tags became available to purchase. As a result, many people who had claimed permits were not able to finalize the payment and permits were not issued to them. We have been able to identify you as one of the affected customers that could not obtain a permit. As such the DWR will be providing you another opportunity to obtain the first permit you attempted to purchase (Archery - Box Elder HUNT #DB1501) on the morning of July 14th. This permit will only be available to you, KORY TAMS, is not transferable to any other customer and will only be available to purchase until 5:00 PM on July 29th, 2016.
