Scouting timeframe

I drew a 4th season bull tag. I am trying to decide if I would be better off going on a scouting trip late summer/early fall or just going out 3-4 days early.

Could possibly do both, what do you all think is better use of time?

I think without a doubt 3-4 days early. The elk you find early fall will not be there 4th season unless you are hunting somewhere that has a resident population that don’t go far.

Depends on if you are more scouting for access and getting the lay of the land vs finding elk. Nothing wrong at all with a summer trip to learn the country but the few days prior to your season will tell you more about elk locations.
