Saving antlers in velvet?

Knoblochs antler in velvet tan. It's more of a permanent solution but it works good.

My goto is a syringe of formaldehyde poke the tips with a knife and inject the formaldehyde into the veins around the base's until it pushes all of the blood out of the tips for best results you should still freeze dry them. Although I still have my first archery buck that I used the formaldehyde trick on and nothing else, it looks great. When I finally got a bigger set I payed $300 to get them freeze dried just so I can tell people how much the mount costs.

elkmagnet is right on..... When I shot my big velvet buck, I did not do anything with the velvet for about 40 hr's and you cannot tell I did so, than they were immediately put into a freezer, than another 3 days later they were taken too be freeze dried, my suggestion is bring a chest freezer and a generator in the pickup or have them completely frozen afterword and than put them in with dry ice for the trip home than straight too the taxi, depending on how far you are driving..... or do the syringe and formaldehyde trick....
