I was commissioned to make an optic mount for a No.3. There are only 2 options on the market and neither are great. Originally it was supposed to be steel weaver style mounts. I'm glad I talked him into this instead. It was a fun project, figuring out how to cut the barrel channel was a good challenge. It's a pretty good fit but I'm still recommending bedding. You did a fantastic job on the mount, very cool design, Looks complicated to the uninitiated eye...step by step photos really help.
How much does something like that run these days?

I charged $300. I had more time into than that, but I was figuring things out as I went. I'm planning on making more and I think I can cut down machine time by quite a bit.

Asking for a friend; Would that work on a #1 in say a 300 H&H, to allow the scope to move back a little from the traditional mounts; the front ring butts up to the bell on a VX 5…

One could be made to accommodate that. I'm working on designing a version for the No.1. I have a few examples in the shop right now so I'll be able to make mounts for different barrel contours. Offset rings are also an available choice.

I agree on the 1 inch tubes. I like the 2.5 x8 on my lighter #1s. Had the vx 5 left over from a POS Christianson 6.5 I had. It’s not perfect but I didn’t need to buy another scope :)

I'm seeing a HAAS VF3 in your future. Lol

I really enjoy spending time on the Bridgeport at work.
I'd almost do it for free.

Don't tell my work that!!! Lol

Not bad for a Custom mount like that, there is probably a good size market for that among competition shooters & maybe safari guys....Kudos to you once again & Best of luck to you fine sir.
