Saw him pumping his own gas in Santa Fe a few years ago. Minding his own business so I did the same. Retired from Hollywood w/no feeble comebacks. I enjoyed his work. RIP to him and his wife.

He was driving an immaculate shiny 4 door sedan Mercedes that was at least 40 years old.

I read a little about his childhood and life. He was great actor and I really enjoyed his movies. Sad and strange to have them all pass at the same time.

I ate at the table next to him and his wife in SF. Cafe Pasqual's.
He asked where I was from.
"Originally, Pasadena. I saw you in a play at the Pasadena Playhouse when I was young. Now Pie Town,NM"
We talked for an hour or so.
They were very nice and easy going. His wife was quite the pianist.
