Two things by Aldo Leopold, everyone is familiar with his oft misrepresented Sand Country, a collection gathered after his death. I recommend the much more specific Game Management, at over 500 pages of good writing it's a bargain. The ideas and principles of Leopold's thinking are timeless. If you like the way he writes, and are hankering for more visit the archives of all his correspondence at U of Wisconsin web site. https://uwdc.library.wisc.edu/collections/aldoleopold/ his letters to his son Starker, are great, also to various officials. The stuff is work to go through, not digitized, thankfully Aldo used the typewriter for everything and kept carbons, there are gems, like the time he suggested trapping as a method of killing excess wolves only a couple years before he passed away, to a National Park Director no less. Some great photos too.
