Remembering when you could eat for cheap

Drinkin' with Lincoln...as much draft beer as you wanted for $5. Cheapest beer I ever saw was dime beers in a hole in the wall place south of Great Falls. Lots of places with quarter beers.

In Missouri’s equivalent of Butte:

$3 pitcher nights in college. 25 cent wing nights. Dollar well drinks. $5 cup keg parties. $2 burgers. $3 giant burritos. $5 for 10lbs of chicken legs. Ribeyes for $4/lb on sale. $2 for 10lbs of potatoes. Shotgun ammo for $4/box.

Doesn’t really feel that long ago…

As a young California dude. Taco Bell. 60's Taco "Bell beefers", a sloppy joe. .25 cent each. Used to buy 3 and a root beer. Those early Taco Bells, had lava rock fire pits, right in front of the entrance. As a young teen, growing up in Ohio, Mac D offered a quarter pounder, fries, & soda, for .99 cent. Early teen years.

There was a”penny pitcher” night at my local college bar. We took full advantage of that. Weekly.

Undesirable people found out about it, and they eventually had to shut it down.

$2 all you could eat tacos with all the sides for Monday night football, plus nickel draft beer. Holiday Inn Elko NV many moons ago
