reattaching antler to skull plate

My kid shot a spike buck and when he grabbed the antlers, one fell off. How should I reattach the antler?

Following. I have a buck that popped an antler off when I went to turn it for pictures. I tried Jb weld and it didn’t do the trick.

I thought about this , my hesitation was my abilities to get the angles right. I guess I can’t screw it up any more than it already is.

I would do the antler end first. Might be easier to line up angle you'll need into the cap from there.

I did one of mine with super glue. Laid it on pretty thick and it's holding.

Yah if you could pre position the antler. I would think that would make it easier.

Barely oversized pilot hole in the skull, with a big washer to spread out the pressure over the skull plate, and snug the antler tight to the exterior skull.

Do this. Drill a pilot hole and use a little epoxy on the screw.

I killed a 150 class WT many years ago on Dec 15 and he knocked an antler off in his death throes. Easiest Euro I have done, just keep one antler out of the pot.
On reattaching it, first made a pencil mark where the antler lines up with the skull. Drill about a 1/4-5/16" hole in each. Tightly roll a 1" square piece of 1/4" hardware cloth to fit into each hole. Make sure that the antler nests into the pedicle correctly and then mix 2 part epoxy and glue it together using the hardware cloth as the guide and strength. Sit on the couch watching your favorite TV show holding it dearly as it sets.

If you have access to the brain cavity drill it out and screw it on. A vise helps for this. I’ve done euro like this by dremeling out the ear canal/brain cavity to gain access. If you don’t want to do that a peg as above will work with some JB weld.

Mountain Mikes is how I’ve solved that problem with late season bucks. With a spike I’d just hang the antlers on a string, kinda like you’d display a turkey beard.

Another idea, especially if it’s his first buck. Use the antler for a knife handle and have someone make a nice hunting knife for him.
