rattle can stock paint

Hello all,

I've decided to paint a rifle's stock via the ripped-up sponge dipping method. I've done a bunch of research into it and I've done all the testing I need to in order to do it properly. Does anyone have pictures they'd care to share to help me get a good vision of how I want it to turn out?

Was a 7mm Mashburn. Brux #3. 7.5lbs scoped. Amazingly smooth action when kept clean. Didn’t like to get dusty though.

Did you do those with rattle can paint? If so, what brand and model? Finally, what type of sponge did you use?

My son's has a late model Remington 870 that is super prone to rust and I'm looking for an arts and crafts project before duck season.

My son's has a late model Remington 870 that is super prone to rust and I'm looking for an arts and crafts project before duck season.

The majority of the time we use Krylon Fusion Camo colors but any Krylon will work.
Use a few coats of ultra flat clear after all colors have been applied. Spray some of the color of your choice onto a paper plate and then dip the sponge in it. Takes a little practice to get the amount/pressure right but it’s not to hard.

These are the sponges that seem to work best. Just test them and choose whichever you like.

I wasn’t going to take it afield for a while for that purpose. I’m doing load development with a Sako so that’ll occupy my attention for a bit
