Rancher's cattle being removed from forest

Ten
back to the story at hand.
If those folks are grazing without a lease they should be arrested. and all there cattle on PUBLIC ground should be fair game.
maybe a limited draw, use the proceeds to start fixing the damage???
then they should be held accountable for the rest of the cost of restoring the land..

mike,"This is one issue I have done an about face and changed my views on.
All the targee national forest around spencer idaho is a great case in point.
It looked like shit last fall due to over grazing..."

What's the solution? Jon Marvel lawsuits? Being nice about overgrazing and trying to educate those ranchers hasn't made even a tiny bit of difference. You think those ranchers overgrazing the Targee don't know exactly what they're doing?

In Idaho the Cattlemen's Association uses all their political pull to keep the FS and BLM from hiring more enforcement officers. Do you have any idea how many enforcement personnel the FS and BLM have in Montana? I bet less than ten, total.

Just to clarify, but LEOs (at least in the SLFO) are not responsible for dealing with grazing violoations. That is up the the range management specialist for that allotment. The BLM Salt Lake office has 4 (now only two, but two will be hired shortly) RMSs for 3.2 million acres.
