Looking to upgrade my rain gear. A lot of rain gear tends to be pretty loud even hunting brands so let me know what has worked for you. Probably going to have to wear it while doing some activity so I'm not sure I can wear the vulcanized rubber stuff.

Most waterproof, grundens aka rubber stuff
Best all around waterproof, breathability, weight, etc, arc'teryx
Quietest, Sitka Downpour

I got my old military rain gear. I bought an XXL parka because I let my belly grow but military gear is designed to spend days in wet weather. My experience and my preference. I know others have different experience and preference so it's usually best to pick what works for you the best.

I dont know if they make rain gear bottoms, but carhart makes some nice rain gear jackets. Dad has their storm defender jacket and it's really nice.

For what uses? As @wllm1313 pointed out there's different levels.
If you're in rain all day and you want to stay dry-ish, you have to go rubber/PVC
If you are backpacking then I've really grown to love the lightest weight Kuiu rain pants (I have the predecessor to the current models). They are not perfect, but they're great for that activity.
I've never found anymore that worked great for say, still hunting in the rain, I use the sikta softshell jacket, but it's certainly not idea.
If you're just hiking in the rain, I can tell you want isn't great, REI brand, Kelty brand, and Pataguchi. I have not tried Arctyrx but I would not dispute any claim, they made nice sh!t. I think any 3-layer goretex is going to be pretty good stuff.

SIMMS.

1) Made in the USA
2) A company that makes excellent (the best?) waders, also makes excellent rain gear
3) Similar technology as Kiuiu (Toray® fabric, gortex,AQUAGUARD® VISLON® zippers, etc.), but a fraction of the price
4) No water seeping up the sleeves due to internal dry-cuff

I used my Simms G4 all of last hunting season. It’s an awesome jacket. Simms makes great products and I’ll probably stick with them for breathable rain gear.

I’ve had a Simms jacket for 10 years that’s still going strong. Though I will say, not quiet, and not cheap.

With the pro deal I expect you get I'd look hard at OR and Rab. eVent is still my favorite membrane personally, but face fabric weave and a good DWR matter as much or more among the top contenders. Unfortunately the quieter face fabrics lend themselves to not holding a DWR as well IME.

Regarding the Sitka raingear, do you get the loud, man-made-fabric "swish", when walking through brush ? I prefer wearing wool, but on those days of heavy rain ...

I don't live in the rain belt but.
I use Frog togs all year around.
If you toss them in the dryer o just air with a pair of sneakers
they lose that paper sound and feel.
They stop the wind, I live in the wind belt and are very light and packable.
I put them on over anything outstanding.
Sometimes I use them by their selves.

I like the togs rather than the toads.

Sitka downpour quiet?? I picked it up in the store. Total joke. Not quiet at all I thought. Did they recently change it?

The downpour from the whitetail line that has the brushed face, mine is the dark green... I believe they retired that color. Is it as quite as some other materials, maybe not, but it is by far the quietest gortex rain jacket I've ever encountered.
