Looking for opinions on a rain suit to throw in my pack and have in case a shower pops up while in the mountains chasing elk. From my research it seems 4 way stretch is pretty important. Also compact and fairly light is important. What might rank highest on list of importance is tough enough to not rip on everything and of course something that will actually keep you dry.

For pop up storms, go with something light. Vapor Stormlight jacket & Boundary Stormtight pants from First Lite. It's a 2.5 layer, designed to be light, but also durable when it needs to be.

For AK type hunts where it's always going to be wet, go with something like the Omen Stormshelter set by First Lite. It's a 4.5 layer, designed to stand up to busting brush & undergrowth.

Popup storms...no problem. You want lightweight, but you won't find lightweight AND tough.

I've used this jacket for multiple elk and deer hunts in CO, WY, NM, no issues...it's windproof, waterproof at least against daily rainshowers, tough enough and light enough, and availablein tall sizes...currently $75 on sale, pick whatever earth tone you want...

I generally dont buy "hunting specific" brands bc they're overpriced but my rain paints are Kuiu bc the full-zip leg is so nice to have for not taking boots off. For backpack could do the Northridge super lightweight stuff....the Yukon will be too heavy/bulky for what you're looking for it to do.

For random storms you don't need anything all that burly and heavy. I also wouldn't focus on just hunting brands. The Outdoor Research helium is pretty good. It is super light and pretty thin, so not the best for busting brush. I also like the OR Foray stuff. A little burlier but still quite light.

I have the Sitka rain gear from a couple years ago (not sure of the name) and for me it's like pick if you want to get wet from rain or get wet from sweat. I don't even put it on for the most part. I have a soft shell Kuiu that does good enough.

In my opinion, with the hunting-specific brands, you’re paying for the name and the fancy camo pattern. I’ve used raingear from marmot or NorthFace in plain black or green that works great for 1/4 the price of the big hunting brands.

Love my Yukon no way I’m packing it for incidental storms while elk hunting its way to heavy
Ok but I bet you have way more weight in more useless stuff than the rain gear. But there’s always the Northridge. Just not as tough. What I pack unless it’s really going to be nasty.

I don't know if you have found a rain suit or not but I totally recommend going and looking at madsens they sell stuff for loggers but they got some great rain gear I got a friend that's a linemen and he swears by the gear I don't think any of its camo though

In the mountains of Alaska, Marmot Precip, light in weight , works for me.
Impertech gear for chasing moose through brush or working wet.
