Quest for a sask whitetail 2021 semi live

This went pretty well last year so I’ll do it again this year.

Set four baits today in the forest. 1 had pretty decent buck sign already quite a few rubs and some that went fairly high on the saplings. The other three are feeler spots that I think have potential once the rut kicks in. Will go back in a week and check cameras. I think this week I might sit field edges a night or too see if I can find a big guy starting to poke his head out during daylight.

One of these days I am just gonna pay the guy the 5 grand to hunt the whitetail in that province. I’m just not there yet. Good luck this year!

I had this buck on a bait about 300 yards away last fall. I moved my bait back in the bush into a dry swamp along a route or close to a route I think he is taking to get to the farmland in the south. Not sure if he is even alive but I hope he is and I hope I can chase him this fall.

2 other deer I passed last fall and would like to see this year. If the wide one with the broke drop tine is around it would be my third year knowing about him

View for tonight. Saw a big framed deer tonight right at dark I would like a closer look at. Season ends on farmland October 31 and opens back up November 15 so it’s now or never. Next time wind is right I’m moving in.

Also checked two deer baits i set Sunday. Was pretty disappointed to see neither hit yet. Deer baits are usually hit fast. If no action by later this week I’ll move them to different spots

Was observing a field tonight from a distance making plans to strike tomorrow as a storm is coming in then. About half hour before the end of shooting light this guy came out and chased a few does. He was in a good stalk able so I quickly hustled down there. Came over the ridge and he was feeding with a doe at 93 yards. Found a shooting lane between a couple trees and touched off the muzzle loader. He instantly went nose first into the dirt made it a few steps and was done.



3 years of history with this deer which I thought was pretty cool. I have his 2019 sheds, passed him 2020 cause his dropper was broke. Now to guide my GF to a deer. See how much she enjoys hunting deer and sitting in blinds. I’m sure to won’t be as much as I like it lol
