Made a quick trip to Texas to put a few hogs on the dirt with my bow. Here is a cute little fella from this past weekend.....

What part of the state were you in...central, south central? I've seen those colorings up here in the north too.

SO stan, who did you go with and how did you rate the hunt?? was this your first time hog hunting?

Was that a Boar ? I'm guessing that doesn't count for the fantasy hunt ;)

Kudos on the Hunt though !!!

Oscar it was a boar, all the hogs I shot were boars actually. I didn't have a tape of any sort while I was there. Maybe we'll score them like we score does and cows?

Smallballs, I went with one of my elk clients from last year. I had a great time down there. I'll be going back for sure, not to bad of a drive for me. First time really hunting them. I shot one in Mexico a few years back but I was there for Whitetails and he just got in the way.

All the hogs you shot, woah, how many did you shoot? They're good meat, we mix them with deer meat a lot for sausage around here. Way to go!

Hey, they just caught a new state record bass out of Lake Henry by Lubbock.

Lubbock-Area 11-Year-Old Lands Junior Record Largemouth
LUBBOCK, Texas — A largemouth bass landed June 10 on Lake Alan Henry by Kenny Schuette, 11, of Slaton, southwest of Lubbock has been verified as a new junior state record by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.

Kenny’s bass weighed in at 13 pounds, 25.75 inches. He caught it on a rod and reel using live perch as bait, and after weighing it in, released it live, demonstrating the catch and release fishing ethic that has helped make Texas fishing some of the best in the nation.

The fish earns Kenny a Big Fish Award, Catch and Release Award, Junior State Record for Public Water for largemouth bass and a Junior Water Body Record for Lake Alan Henry from the department.

Lake Alan Henry is a 2,880-acre reservoir located 45 miles south of Lubbock and four miles east of Justiceburg on the Double Mountain Fork of the Brazos River.

The state agency recognizes fishing achievements through its Angler Recognition Program. The program keeps official state and water body records and issues certificates in recognition of other outstanding angler achievements. Reporting guidelines and the rules for each award category are on the TPWD Web site.

If an angler is younger than 17 years of age, the catch will automatically be entered in TPWD’s Junior Angler Recognition Program, where youngsters compete with their peers. If a junior angler’s catch beats an all-ages State or Water Body Record, the young angler will receive recognition in both categories.

AZ4inches, lets see some more photos. Looks pretty green down there, you hunting near some kind of AG fields? I always thought that part of TX was pretty desert type.

There's some real interesting canyons up in that area north and east of Lubbock, they just drop down from the flat land.

Quanah Parker is one of the historic figures from up there. He fought many battles with the white man and never lost. The body counts were even Comanche 3, whites 600.

There is a town named after him up there. He finally took his people to Ft.Still, Ok and surrendered and became a successful Texas rancher. He was a friend of Teddy Roosevelt's, they say. Here's a his-story on him.
