Project 2025.....

What home projects or honey dos are you planning this year?

I have a couple of pallets of firebrick in the pole barn that I plan on turning into a wood fired fast-fire kiln so I can get back into high fire ceramics.

I was invited to pick through a couple of deceased potter's studios and walked out with the bricks and around a ton of high fire clay, as well as about a ton of glazing materials, colorants, etc.

I'll need to build a covering for it, but it should be able to hit cone 11-12 in about 10 hours (instead of 24-36 hours).

I just got construction complete on basement remodel a couple weeks ago, celebratory beers were had...over the last 2-3 years I've done a full basement remodel, remodeled my kids bathroom, hired a contractor for a major remodel of kitchen and main floor and replaced a failed walk-in shower in our master bath.

Time for a break...

Planted 3 new fruit trees and 3 blueberry bushes this week. Also have an order in with the local soil and water conservation district for an assortment of native trees that I pick up next weekend.

Need to replace a bathroom sink. Need to do some exterior detail painting that never got done when we built the house several years ago. Need to tear down the old house that I've never dealt with. Need to tear down an old barn that has now become a hazard. Need to mow out lots of blackberries so the elk have grass to eat when they come in on the back of the property. Probably get to help my wife move her bees to a new location that she likes better. If my wife sees this thread, she will add more stuff.

Raising a newborn first and foremost. No major projects at home this year. Worked my butt off to get things done in anticipation.

The only big thing I think I have planned is repairing a bunch of fence to keep cattle where they belong and make crossings easier for the wildlife. I thought there were arrangements in place to take care of that but I wouldn't bet on that now.

In the off chance that work is still planned by the couple of entities involved, I'm gonna see if those resources can be reverted elsewhere and I'll just do it.

I put a 24' x 40' shop on my property with a shed roof on one side. Didn't want to go larger because I knew it would just mean I would put more " stuff" in it. Now the current one is full.🤔
Let's say I'd like to build an over-sized garden shed now. The double sets of tires for 3 vehicles is really bugging me. Maybe a shed roof off the side so I can get the boat out of my shop.
Yeah, too much stuff.

Wife wanted our entry to be a little more interesting. Put up some ship lap, built a bench, and painted the wall a couple times before it worked.🤣20250206_102724.jpg
