Kenetrek Boots

Pretty & Classy rifles. Lets see them!

I've just never been able to get into the maple rifle stock look. Dark wood just seems to fit a fine old rifle. Reminds me of an old man frosting his tips just to try to look cool.
I agree on the darker woods but Personal tastes vary, I hate the look of barn wood flooring but it's all the rage these days.

I don't care too much for the yellow maple stocks, but they do have their place.

However, Maple can be stained dark, and makes for a lovely stock. Lots of old muzzleloaders used a stained maple. http://hawkenrifles.com/woodfinish.html

Winchester Model 70 Lightweight in 30.06. I have had it since the early 1990s. It has been a safe queen because I preferred carrying a beat up Winchester model 88 (which is not pretty, but went on every rifle deer and elk hunt in my family for decades).

I want to see the 88. I love lever guns.

My mom's Winchester Model 88; well used and in need of a stock refinishing (there is a story that my Dad set it on the hood of the car and drove off, resulting in most of the cosmetic issues when it hit the road). Great shooting gun.

Brenton Modern Hunting Rifle. Heirloom Quality with sub MOA performance. Carbon fiber furniture. Not your classic wood furniture nor is it an oldie. But it is a goodie. Both AR10 and AR15 shown. Love these tack drivers.

Remington Model Seven that I bought new 25-30 years ago. It’s topped with a Burris Signature 3-9x40 with Positive-Lock. I’ve killed lots of deer with this rifle.

Double Broomed Mountain Rifle Brooks Range Ovis Hunter in 280AI.

Love it!

Old school and new. A pair of Remington Model Sevens in 7mm-08. Blued with laminate stock from 25-30 years ago and a stainless HS-Precision model purchased last year.

Very nice pair! I have heard from several people that the 7mm-08 is a dandy deer cartridge.

Thanks ludville1,
I‘ve deer hunted since 1984. I killed deer with the following rifle calibers:
.300 WBY Mag
.30-06
.308
.243
7mm REM. Mag
6.5-.284 NORMA
6.5 Creedmoor
.270
.280
7mm-08

The 7mm-08 is by far my favorite and all that I use now. I’ve killed whitetails from 10 yards to just over 400 yards. You’d be hard pressed to find a better deer cartridge in my opinion.

20211213_130101.jpg16 November 2019.JPG2019-08-23 impala.JPGWWII Springfield 30-06 my dad dolled up for me in 1962. Shot my first deer with it three years later. I'm sure I'll shoot my last one with it in a few years. Used hard, it's been restocked once after a horse accident and recently rebarrelled. I retired its 3x Weaver a couple years ago for a new 3x9x40 Nikon.
