Pondering a scope change

My 300 Weatherby Weathermark is wearing a VX-5HD 3-15x44 FireDot scope. Looking at picking up a VX-4.5-14x40 with no FireDot. Both have the CDS system. I’ll cut 6 oz right off the bat not counting the minimal amount for the rings.
Do you think I’m going to regret making the change. FireDot is nice, but not used much.
Not selling the 5 , so I can always put it back on. Any issues with the VX-3HD I need to be aware of?

The vx5 is a lot better scope imo. I've got both.

The 5 is a better scope. I have a the one your looking for in a duplex reticle if you want to trade.

I have no idea but I am assure its cheaper, healthier than buying a new scope, that wont be as good as what you have. Heck you can probably save 6oz in a new coat!

IMO Don't overthink the great combo gun/scope you have.

Can only speak for myself, that working out on a regualr basis helps me be able to do what I do.

My son and I both have 4.5-14x40mm (1" tube) Leupolds with the B&C reticle in them and we are both very happy with those scopes.

Nice combo! So why don’t you use the Firedot? I’ve got 2 VX5s and ALWAYS use the FD. I’ve been hunting Ohio all week and it’s just part of my set up routine to turn it on and adjust the brightness to the lighting conditions. Or am I completely misunderstanding what you’re saying?

Only use it early morning and dusk. Too cheap to buy batteries for it. I always carry 6 replacements, JIC.
