Pokemon Go!

Can't wait for the Darwin award kill off of zombies offed wilst facedown walking.....pokeying?lol
Cars,trucks,busses & bears rule!!

These idiots are walking around like zombies. I've had it with some of these morons. Time to bumper kiss a few back into reality. I'm sure law enforcement is pleased.

one more excuse for some to stare at their phones instead of actually interact with the world...like they really need another

The thing is, this is actually spawning a ton of interaction with the world that wouldn't have otherwise happened. I've been playing and wandered around the UNC Charlotte campus for a while and met a bunch of other people actually playing. Wound up chatting with a handful of them. I did find it ironic that the app is getting people out and walking and talking to people while also making them spend more time on their phones.

The game actually makes people get out and explore. It causes people to be more social than they would otherwise. It also apparently causes car crashes on major highways.

My uneducated guess would be that this is because it's new and everyone is curious to see who else has the new favorite toy. Give it a month or two and 3/4 of the people will drop out and the remainder will be walking around like zombies. Maybe I'm wrong...

I played it with my son this evening. We spent a nice evening walking about 2 miles around the neighborhood catching virtual critters. If it gets more people off of the couch to exercise, I don't see the problem.

I suppose its better than whatever other games people lock themselves in their basement for days and play are.

If I see some furry little yellow pokemon rapscallion scurrying through the timber this hunting season, he'll be harvested.

BF has a DQ app to find gold I think....maybe it's more like radar.

I go wandering around in the woods looking down searching for clues where the gold is and I don't need an app.
Well,onxmaps might be one...
Plus the treasure is enjoyed the rest of the year.
Game,its what's for dinner.

My 13 year old son and 12 year old daughter have been playing it since it became available. All their friends play it as well. They have been taking many bike rides around the neighborhood and getting alot of exercise. I walk every weeknight evening and always had a hard time getting my daughter to go with my son but now she can't wait. Buried in the phone still but better than being buried in the phone on the couch.

The game itself is pretty facinating (but I don't play). Basically taking google maps of the area you are in and adding characters into the map. Pretty cool virtual reality.

I'm actually surprised that my son isn't interested. He's 9 and actually collects Pokemon playing cards and somewhat plays with a few of his friends. He also spends a lot of time on an iPad playing Minecraft and some other games like that. I figured he would be begging to play it. I showed it to him but he didn't seem interested. Of course the fact that the lowest high temperature this week so far has been 103 degrees might have something to do with it.

Talked with a co-worker and they said the Veterans War Memorial next door had 25+ people all out there at the same time last night about 8:30. Must have some really good characters or something.

I was out for a hike with the pack on, and the dog last night, and I had a bunch of new trailmates. I do about a six mile loop at the county park, and I can tell you that very few Pokémon hunters are willing to walk more than a mile in from the trailhead.....seriously.....

It was good to see those kids out there, and I am glad they weren't out doing it in traffic. I stopped to talk to a couple of them, just because I was curious. They weren't outfitted to be out on rough trail, but they were out there. While we were telling me about their hobby, a whitetail buck snuck across the trail about 80-90yds in front of us. They were pretty excited, we talked a little about the deer, and I headed off. I hope maybe being out in nature might cause a lot more kids the opportunity to look around and find something more.

My kids all played Pokemon stuff when they grew up but aren't into this at all. Seems like gettin people out and about is a good thing though.

LOL. My son is downloading it on his iPad right now so I'm going to load it up on my phone! I wonder if having a fancy spot right out in front of my office will get me any good stuff. It sounds like I can get some eggs hatched pretty quickly if I run it while I'm out jogging.

Change out the characters for antlers and we'd be in business...

I agree! Big Fin could start a "Hunttalk Go" App. Put critters of all sizes at various locations on public land. At the end of the day, we could all talk about how we hiked in 5-6 miles, swam across rivers, crawled thru pucker-brush, etc; just to bag an elk, deer, bear, etc. Would be like the real thing, only no meat to haul!

I've been playing this with my young kids. They love it and I am amazed that the only other people I see out in the parks are also playing this game. Otherwise, no one would be there. I guess things that get us out of the house are good.
