Plate ‘em up

It doesn't look like desert to me. You must have given up on that diet.
That was last night. Had to do it while it was still warm. Can't really call it much of a diet, just my dad's way to get a dessert before it's gone at potlucks! Skipping the regular meal DOES cut the calories down, though! ;)
 
Venison heart for dinner

Trimmed, cut diagonally into 1/2” slices, seared in olive oil with a bit of butter to rare/medium rare

Served on toasted buns with horseradish mustard and a different style of sauerkraut

Tastes more pickle than sauerkraut to me but it’s been great on hamburgers and the heart sandwiches

I dearly love lamb and used to have several delivered alive to my house where I and a couple of colleagues and grad students butchered them. But the farmer emigrated north to Minnesota. We have been lambless for at least 5 years.
