We had to say goodbye to our Jasmine the other day. It's amazing how attatched we can get to out dogs.
We got her about 12 years ago when a friend had several dogs, one being a Rotty and Jasmine who was a German Shepard and both thought they had to be the alpha dog. Jasmine was getting the worst of it so he asked if we wanted her. At the time she was about a year and a half old and he told me she was more of a womans dog and would most likeky bond with my wife and daughter. Well it was just the opposite becuse after she calmed down from the move to a new home she was my constant companion. If I was outside she had to be outside, if I was in the shower she waited by the door. When I was still working my wife said she went to the living room to wait for me everday about 10 minutes before I got home.
A few years ago she had an eye the vet had become ulcerated and had to be removed, afterwards it was like having a baby in the house. She couldn't get up because of the medication and we had to feed her by hand and bring her water up to her face to drink. One of us slept in the den with her for about a week.
This is us having a ltlle fun with after she was feeling better.http://onyourownadventures.com/hunttalk/images/attach/jpg.gif
She had become quite hard of hearing the last year or so and had a neurological condition that made her walk like only her hind end was drunk. The vet did say she was in no pain
so that was a plus.
Here she is guarding the house, we came home from shopping and went in and out several times and she never woke up from the noise.http://onyourownadventures.com/hunttalk/images/attach/jpg.gif
Here she is enjpying her last camping trip this past July.http://onyourownadventures.com/hunttalk/images/attach/jpg.gif
She had always had a sensetive stomach so sometimes we fed her cooked venison burger and rice til she got over it but this time she wasn't getting better and her food and water were going right through her. We put her bed in the laundry room because she was having accidents and it was too cold to put her outside. I got up every time I heard her and she looked so sad and embarrased when I was cleaning up.
We took her to the vet and made the very hard decision that it was time to let her go, it was very emotional to say the least. She went to sleep in my arms and I cried like a baby.
