Caribou Gear Tarp

Other Big Game .... Let's see them!!!

I will guess shotgun.
Lots of duiker hunting is done with a shotgun.
Hey @buffybr the title says "Big Game" not stuffed animals!

The duikers, Steinbucks, klipspringer, and other tiny 10 animals aren't big but they are challenging and fun to hunt.

I could only imainge. Seriously. Lots of cover and tiny animals.
Might not be apples to apples and it’s kind of funny, but I remember playing like Cabela’s Big Game Hunter or something like that on the original XBOX and I remember finishing the African stage required shooting a record book Duiker and it took forever. That was my first exposure to them as like a 10 year old or something, but they were tough to kill on the game and immediately got my respect.
I was just trying to bust buffybr’s chops a bit.

I hunted for a grey Duiker pretty hard for over a week and in all that time had one good one in the scope. In the time it took for the PH to give me the green light he had already melted into the brush.

I just want to know what he shot it with?
A 150 gr FMJ bullet from a .308 Win that I borrowed form from the outfitter.

On a following trip I loaded a box of 150 gr FMJ bullets for my .300 Wby to use for the small critters. The last night of that trip, we sat in a hide overlooking an open area where they threw the inedible parts of hunter's animals, hoping a civet to carcal would come in.

The "bait" was 140 yds from the hide, and the first animal to come in was a civet. One shot with a 150 gr FMJ bullet put him down, and my PH said we should wait to see if anything else would come in.

Not long later a caracal came in and when I shot there was just a loud click. I first thought that I had frogot to reload, but when I tried to chamber another round, it wouldn't go in. It turned out that the primer fired but didn't ignite the powder, yet it had enough force to push the bullet into the barrel.

Luckily my PH had borrowed another PH's .22 LR rifle and had it in the truck. He got it and my first shot hit, but didn't kill the caracal. Then my PH told me that we only had 2 bullets and I had shot 1 of them, and he asked if I wanted to get closer for the 2nd shot. I said no, and made the kill shot from the hide.

Whe I got home I fired all of the rest of the 150 gr FMJ loads, and they all fired perfectly.
