Question for the guys with the app. Is the app a one time purchase because a friend of mine said his was hit monthly? And are you able to use the app in airplane mode? Thanks for the help.

With the app you have to cancel the membership or it will auto renew .

I use it on my iPhone 5c. Absolutely love it. Have had no issues whatsoever, the maps load reasonably quickly at home, and I can mark waypoints, leave tracks, the whole shebang. I keep my old gps with me as a backup in case of power loss, but that's just paranoia.
Last year I used nothing but the app on the phone, and had no trouble at all.
As a check, I deliberately wandered up to a private land border, and sure enough, the app had me pegged exactly where I was and where the private land should be (I could tell because there was a fence).
Have the Colorado maps, and just bought Wyoming. I'll probably get Nebraska as well.
