Old Log Cabins & Pioneer Barns - Pictures.

Here's one we've been renovating at work. Original cabin was built in 1880, moved to present site in 1980 when an addition was built. Whoever did the roof didn't flash anything so 40 years of water intrusion led to termites and now we get to deal with it. Thankfully none of the logs from the original cabin were bad enough to need cut out. Unfortunately, the addition wasn't so lucky. 20220720_093211.jpg20220720_145110.jpg20220727_120901.jpg20220727_123710.jpg20220727_151615.jpg20220728_154845.jpg

Found my 1st Montana dead head , Didn’t expect it to be hanging inside an old barn who knows when it was built FC54F2D9-251E-40E0-B0D3-4540795756F6.jpeg37952CC3-E4B7-49A8-BDD9-6AE720E1B66A.jpegB46591C7-57F2-4489-9F83-CD7171DEDFC2.jpeg

I found this structure 40/50 yards out in front of the barn not sure what it originally was is anyone have any thoughts ideas or guesses, I couldn’t see it at first because it was actually dug for the roof to be flush with the ground there appeared to be a small door or opening on the right side which you could’ve gone into it

Root Cellar. Having it under ground kept it cooler in the summer and above freezing in the winter. This made it much better for keeping stuff like potatoes.
