The Aunt and Uncle pulled out of Las Vegas, NM last week. Loaded up there camp trailer with what they needed. Hoping all is well with their and their neighbors homes.

The Calf Canyon/Hermits Peak Fire made a big run today. Reported spotting 2 miles. Update this afternoon said 215k+ acres.

I was talking to a forestry guy today and he said the smoke plume today off the calf canyon fire was one of the worst smoke plumes he's seen in his whole career

If this MODIS/VIIRS is accurate and it jumped Guadalupita Canyon, that’s probably 2.5-3 miles.

That's right where an old homestead is that I had an offer in on in 08', next to the hatchery. It was on my safe from imminent fire list.

IR flight last night showed the heat east of the canyon to be false readings. 237k acres.

Thanks, I was curious as CF isn't even staffing stations around here yet. The Gubnor declares year round fire season but still CF is only seasonal hire for the boots on the ground.

Inciweb is probably the best website for updates, but it's typically only updated 2x a day unless there is emergency information such as evacuations.

Twitter can be a good source of more immediate information. You just need to judge the veracity of the source. On Twitter, search for fire name hashtags, such as #calfcanyonfire, and then select "Latest."
