A pair of bills soon to be introduced into the Nevada legislature would eliminate trapping in the state. The bills, SB 364 and BS 365 will:

* Prohibit the use of traps on public lands (Nevada is about 86% public; the remainder is residential and metropolitan area);
* Require trappers to post signs in any area where they have traps set, whether on public or private land;
* Allow the public to tamper with, remove or disturb traps that are lawfully set if they deem it a matter of “public safety;”
* Require the public disclosure of a trapper’s personal information;

That's sounds like some awful legislation

The signage and and tampering parts might have come about from situations here in Southern Nevada.

Someone set a trap very near Las Vegas in the middle of a trail to a very popular rock climbing area on BLM land, then tried to press charges when someone admitted to setting it off. As people and pets use the trail on a regular basis, the climber said it was a danger, and it was. The trapper also set other traps in high density recreation areas. As a climbing guide, I heard lots about it.

Purely my opinion, but it was a terrible place to place a trap and a poor way to go about the situation.
