Netflix: American Primeval

Anyone else watch American Primeval on Netflix? Set in mid 1800s in Utah. Pioneers vs Mormons vs Army vs Indians. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it. Details are fictionalized but based on some true locations/events.
Only good thing I’ve seen on Netflix in a long time

I liked the story, it was nice to see some characters from “real life” that were portrayed in it, but the way that they filmed it seemed a little more “dark” than I think it had to be.
I understand that life back then was difficult, but for example, the Pratt character running around for days with blood dripping down his face was a little much. Especially when he’s sitting next to a river and doesn’t try to wash off some of it….?
Also there was a scene where a man was skinning a deer carcass and blood was running down the body of the deer. Now Ive skinned many deer and that’s never happened to me.
I just wish it was filmed with a little more realism than the over drama of the gore.

A little dramatized if I have to say. It was so dark and the cinematography reflected that. We've watched a few episodes and may finish it. Its good if you like watching a lot of people get killed.

I personally never liked westerns until reality set in. Eastwood.
The tv shows were the worst.
No rancher or lawman I knew wore light colored clothes nor were they clean every day.

Homesteads around here are full of graves and this place was not settled until 1920.

How the West was Won. Every other person was a thief, nutcase or murderer. The most real early one I can think of.

Folks have a nice memory,regardless.

Thought it was pretty good myself. We are a Dark People.

Hunted near Mountain Meadow Massacre site twice. Natl. Monument Site.
Locals tear down any signs and deny. Very strange folks around there.
I drive I-15 not far from there at least a few times per year. Might need to take a detour and explore a bit of that area sometime
Found a old Spanish rancho nearby. Graves from 1790's. Wrought iron around them.
Stone and adobe walls.
A small fort if you look at it right. Women and babies in the graves.
I came across a spot, I think near Lajitas TX right near Mexican border and Big Bend that seemed pretty interesting. I'd like to spend more time in that part of the country as well.

Stumbled upon a homestead when I was out there last fall....I wish that place could talk.
Was the homestead in Illinois or out West further? Back in South Dakota there's some real old remains from old homesteads/barns/churches/cemetery that on my families land that I really wish we knew more about... We think it was likely my family many generations back but will likely never know

Really enjoyed the show, but definitely could’ve been a longer series. Felt like they were building up some story lines then ran out of money and quickly ended things. Maybe we’ll see more next year? Hope so.

I thought it was ok, wife is watching it now. I got tired of the primary actress (the mom) always screaming and not listening to anyone. Well worth a watch compared to modern tv shows like NCIS Fargo.
This! That woman and I guess it’s actually how they portrayed her character, was horrible. Kept hoping they’d kill her off.

I thought it was part of her overall character arc. After some of the events she changed from that initial character into someone who was stronger, smarter, and more stoic. I enjoyed the character development/evolution that took place particularly with Sara, Abish, and Isaac.
