Anything worth casting for in mid - late Oct around the NE corner of CO? What kind of fish are even present? Is the S. Platte wadeable? Muddy? Sandy? I’ll be deer hunting in the region but interested in spending any free time looking for a chance to fish or go after some small game.

Some of the reservoirs out there have some good fishing (Jumbo, North Sterling, Jackson, Prewitt) for walleye and a few other species. I’m guessing wiper populations are still going down as last I checked CPW hasn’t been able to stock them for quite a few years. In my experience, those lakes are often pretty low that time of year and it makes them extra challenging to fish from shore. Admittedly, I’ve only fished those lakes in Oct a few times so I don’t have any specific advice for that time of year. There are a few gravel ponds along the river that have some cats. There are some excellent catfishing lakes if you stop in NE along the North Platte, if that’s on your way.
