Native Exotic's

Ain't Alaska either.

Keep trying.

Hint: You can also hunt pheasant, Dove, Erchle (sp?), and Franklins.

Come on guys! This one ain't that hard!

Think.......

It's a state.

"EXOTIC" hunting

Your wife/girlfriend would love to go. hump hump

It's definitely south of Wash.

Hint: Red is a sacred color. :D

The limiting factor is you say there are blacktail deer. It's south of Washington but not California, and from your latest hints it doesn't sound like Oregon. Are you 100% SURE there are blacktail deer? Because blacktail deer are only in Washington, Oregon, California, and Alaska. |oo

Unless there are domestic blacktail deer on a farm somewhere but I've never heard of such a thing and can't imagine it would be legal.

I bet he's thinking of Hawaii - but I think it is fallow deer there, rather than blacktails?

You can also hunt most of those animals on Catalina Island, too. Deer, goats, pigs, etc.

Yeah I bet he is thinking of Hawaii. I thought of that too but didn't think there are any blacktails over there, just don't think they could take that climate. So Gunner46, WTF are you talking about. |oo ;)

TA DA !!!!

Yes, it's Hawaii. And, Yes they do have Blacktails, on the island of Kawaii. Rainbow trout too.

WH-This is a little copy/paste from a blacktail site I visit...

"Blacktail deer were introduced to Hawaii in 1961 from the state of Oregon. They were introduced to only one of the Hawaiian islands, Kauai. The Island of Kauai is known as the Garden Isle because of its lush vegetation, steep sea cliffs, beautiful canyons and spectacular mountains. The area is relatively dry with less than 20 inches of rain per year. The area is located less than 20 miles from the wettest spot on earth, Mount Waialeale. I've lived on Kauai for 40 of my 43 years but I live on the opposite side of the 40 square mile island from where the public hunting area is located.
The Blacktail season takes place in September and October and tags are awarded after a drawing held in August. Everyone who applies draws a permit. It's just a matter of which weekend you are assigned.
Success in each persons two-day season is between 2 & 3%. I've hunted here for over 20 years and still have not shot at a buck. You can also hunt in early September in the archery (weekends only) and muzzleloader season.
I've tried convincing the game biologists to hold the muzzleloader and archery season in November to make it possible to hunt when they are in the rut. Since that time they have added a special archery only area that can be hunted until the end of November but its not an area with lots of deer. Population is estimated at around 700 animals.

My favorite hunt is the Axis Deer on Lanai. They hold a general season on one portion of the island and (used/still?) have a pay by day, on another. It used to be $200 a day. At one time, I was looking out across two ridges, could see probably mile in a couple of places. I lost count at 100, in groups of 5 to 25.

Wound up taking a 200# 4X4 (very, very rare) at about 250 yds. Still in velvet in Nov. Great Mount.

Here's the 2 Oryx hunts we offer, one is on a private ranch up against the McGregor missle range, before booking this hunt I have to contact the outfitter to establsih if the Oryx herd is on the ranch as they go back and forth from the ranch and the McGregor missle range and the outfitter won't book the hunt if the Oryx isn't on the ranch. The other hunt is on the Armandaris ranch and it has a large resident herd that is on the ranch all the time and it has been a 100% hunt so far with 2 hunts - 2 Oryx. I have included a pic. of one of the Oryx that was shot.

This Oryx hunt takes place in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico on the Armandaris Ranch which is 36 sq. miles in size.

This is a free ranging hunt and the ranch has a very large resident herd of Oryx on it.The previous hunts have all had a 100% success ratio. This is a very good hunt that so far hasn't required the allotted time of each hunt to harvest an Oryx.

Cost of hunts:

Trophy Hunt:
3 day $5613
Includes: food, lodging, 1X1 guiding and license.

Management hunt (broken horn hunt)
2 day $3993
Includes: food, lodging, 1X1 guiding and license.

Lodging will be a motel and food will be in resturants. Both provided.
Considering the included license runs $1500 is actually a very reasonably priced hunt.

This Oryx hunt takes place on a 100,000 acre private ranch up against the McGregor missle range in Alamoragdo, New Mexico, the south boundry of the ranch is the New Mexico / Texas State line. When on the ranch it is a herd of around 30 animals. 6 permits are available. $4500 with meals & lodging provided on the ranch. Anyone interested in this hunt will have to tell me and then I have to see if it is available at that time or the hunter if possible can do an on call hunt when the herd leaves the missle range and goes onto the private ranch. They were staying on the ranch most of the time but a couple of months back they had left the ranch and was back on the missle range.
