Two of my sons and my brother have tags for an area only a couple hours from home, that's a very unusual hunting opportunity for us. Even without a tag, observing beats working, so I've gone with them a couple of times. It's not the typical elk habitat most people think of, but has its own beauty and elk are out there.

Walking along a game trail I spotted a piece of metal sticking out of the dirt. I always pick up trash while out hunting or fishing, but when I looked at this trash closer it made me wonder how long it's been there and what the people who left it were doing out there.

One of my sons got sick and I had meetings I couldn't get out of, but my other son and brother went for a quick day-hunt. Wouldn't you know it, that's when things came together and my brother got a 5x5 and my son got a 6x6 - and I missed it.

I'm hoping my other son and I can make it back for another look.

That baking powder may not be so pure by now? :D

Nice relic find and congratulations to your son and brother.

Cool old metal tin ! And some nice bulls ! Congratulations to you and your family!!! When I’m out in the woods I do the same thing and try to pick up a few things to make the woods little cleaner , Me it’s always beer cans or plastic water bottles that the loggers or hunters chuck out their freaking pick up trucks !

Those are some great Washington bulls! Congratulations to your son and brother. It always amazes me to find elk in that sort of country.

Very nice! Grats to both your son and brother! Great landscape photos!
