I appreciate your respect and I return the same.

I believe you are isolating select points - extremely oversimplifying people's reasons for voting as we did.

There was MUCH more than Quist was an idiot (That I voted for). Same as there is MUCH more than Busse is a Democrat. The main content shared was NOT that Busse was a Democrat - the tribalism is NOT the issue with Busse - it is Busse himself!
I can quote numerous member comments that do not comment about him as a democrat, rather his receipt of Gifford campaign $, his role as the Senior Advisor to the most powerful Anti 2A organization in America. Giffords is a smart and well spoken person and to have roots that show a success for one of the MOST heavily armed citizen States in the U.S. to vote in the Senior Advisor of Giffords???

Giffords is the start - then there IS the Democrat platform. His embellished book shitting on his own county as racist because he brought his children to a children promoted (by their Adult parents) Black Lives Matter protest and was surprised his children experienced the settings he, IMO, embellished! There were credible threats made to deface our statues we have in our park, etc... I could go on and on though his book SOLD to liberal anti 2A thinkers and myself though halted my reading after he shit on my county for sake of selling books! - thus promoting his Giffords stature!

Montana elects Giffords Senior Advisor as Governor? Not a chance in hell! In that sentence, zero mention of Democrat. In this sentence - yes, Democrats thought this was the best person to push their agenda/platform?

Democrat leadership need to pull their head out of their arse and realize Montana is one of the main states that hold tight to our 2A values. Really, WTF were they thinking??? I've voted Democrat governors up until Busse was placed on their pedestal. Sad that Democrat leadership is that far out of touch with Montanans.

Thus 21% voter strength for Gianforte. I believe Democrats enhanced the red nature of this cluster we are set to deal with. I don't want all red nor blue. Democrats sure took a crap in their own campaign office.
iTS NOT THAT HES A GREAT CANDIDATE for the D's of Montana. The party is pushing him because he got the san fransico big money behind him.

177 HT votes placed with the following results.

Amazing how reasonable the chatter is when certain HT members do not turn this into a series of insecure / grade school bully style HT personal attacks.

HT National & International voters:

86 Busse 48.5%
83 Gianforte 47%
8 Leib 4.5%

State voters:

Busse 38%
Gianforte 59.5%
Leib 2.4%

What to make of it? To each his/her own. Usual 80 posts, 4,000+ views, HT banter :)

If Busse was the issue, Knudsen would've underperformed cuz he's a jackass that nobody likes. But he got 60%, tied with GG. Every blue state refugee that's moved here is voting hard red regardless of the issues and that's not going to change - I don't think Jesus Christ himself could win in Montana with a D next to his name anymore. Sad state of affairs.

Dude, busse, has more guns and shoots more guns than most gun owners, R or D. It's just like VG's video. People actively search for reasons to support their opinions. How else does a guy that buys ammo by the case and who's IG is basically dead critters + guns + his kids, considered anti 2a? Because that's what people want to think.

I think it was an extremely easy issue to paint for the opposing side.

He wrote a book about the problems with gun culture and gun makers - even if no one has read even a summary of the ideas of the book thats an auto dq'er for a lot of Montanans i bet.

Most people also just blame FWP for all things hunting/access related. Its way easier than understanding the mess of it all.

This is where we are viewing from differing ballparks.
You are viewing him as an individual, maybe friend, possibly BHA supported ally, unless you're guessing about what you share of the person.
Dead critters? Great for him. Giffords is pressing the Hunt theme over the reason for our 2A. That's a whole can of worms though... is 2A about hunting? Not in my opinion...

I'm viewing this from a stage setting that booms Giffords breaks into Montana.

The optics and massive win for anti 2A movement for Giffords to have her own Senior Advisor she financially supported, become Governor of Montana.

Then there is my own involvement, securing the setting for his book page burner children Black Lives Matter protest in Flathead county. His actions described by Nameless, turning his back type antics, is fitting for the embellishment, look at me, theatrics within his opening portion of his book.

He set his course and Democrats for some unknown flipping reason gave us Busse as the option to Gianforte.

How is this thread unlike any other D vs R smoldering sofa?
Damn, maybe this will follow the only political threads I've ever seen deleted vs merely locked, those involving Busse. 🤣

IMO, the difference from a serious POV, we don't have personal attacks by a select few that turn this type of thread into a hostile children's bully school setting.

Is this a Democrat national platform issue or ? Montana voters chose our votes for a reason.
Serious question.

Doesn’t seem to have had as many nr telling us our business also… just a few of them lol

Wow, you sure have a lot of issues of Giffords. Dude, she got shot in the head by a crazy person with a gun in an event that killed two, including a little girl. I think you can cut her some slack on her position, even if you don't agree with it. She was pro 2A before that event. I get your argument on Busse, but you start to look a little extreme.

Yes and no. Serious answer. For a nationalized senate race, it makes sense for the national democratic platform to weigh on the candidate because there's bonkers outside money coming in and it's very easy to tie a candidate to that money. That just doesn't hold water for the governor's race, but the genuine truth is that most voters don't make the effort to research individual races and they just check boxes down one side or the other. As much as identity politics issues may be dragging down democrats, the truth is that the economy sucks for average Americans and hasn't gotten better in the last 4 years despite Democrats telling them that it's a great economy. So there's a wave for the "change" candidate and that bled through to every down-ballot race. If Trump 2.0 is even more unpopular than Trump 1.0, there could be a chance for whatever democrat candidate in MT to gain ground, but I still think the majority of voters aren't going to vote across party no matter what.

Montana has notoriously bucked this ideology though. We've voted across party lines since... Lord knows when.
I'm an example, Newberg, @Carnage2011 , @Nameless Range , i can go on and on though historically, Montana does not follow this path.

Montana now is different than Montana then. The population has increased by a hundred thousand since the last democratic governor was elected, the total votes in 2024 are 80k higher than 2016, tribalism is stronger than ever as is the toxic hold of Facebook echo chambers. As much as people complain about the libs trashing their states and moving here, the vast majority of transplants I've met lean red, not the other way around.

Liberals don't move to Montana, that was like Newton's 5th or 6th law.

This is true and the interesting part of Montana's history. I don't think it is necessarily a different demographic makeup like @4ohSick suggests, although that may have something to do with it. But it is hard to square the circle of people complaining transplants are bringing their liberal ideology with them while turning the state hard red.

I used to joke when I lived there that Montana felt like it was 20yrs behind where more urban societies were. The pace was slower, there was more focus on local and less worry about the national or world issues, etc. These are probably what people seek in going there. But there were some bad aspects too, particularly the biases against women in the workforce that I witnessed. Regardless, what changed (I might sound like a broken record here) is the internet connected Montana to the rest of the world. It became harder to focus on local and ignore all those other issues. A good example is Gianforte sending the National Guard to the southern border. Virtue signaling because Montanans care?
