Our Candidates are Leib, Gianforte, and Busse. Polling is single selection. Not able to visibly show a member's choice. Polling visible once you make your selection.

Interesting to read through portions of these threads that were not locked then deleted. No more (or less) distaste for Gianforte or his previous candidates than the "Busse For governor" thread.

Thread 'Cooney, best choice for sportsmen.' https://www.hunttalk.com/threads/cooney-best-choice-for-sportsmen.301987/

Thread 'MT: Gianforte vs Quist' https://www.hunttalk.com/threads/mt-gianforte-vs-quist.274685/

For sake of Montana content: Our candidates running for Governor that holds direct affect regarding public lands, environment, firearm ownership, FWP, conservation, political party national platforms, etc.

BTW: Open to all members of our various States, Northern Provinces, even our Kiwi, U.K., Aussie, other Countries, and recent / sudden HT "New Member" brethren.

Friends of Gianforte, Busse, or Lieb, world-wide.

Will be interesting to see how tilted or accurate this poll % may turn when the actual votes determine Montana's next Governor.

Very torn with the candidate selection on many positions- not just governor. There has certainly been some positives and some negatives, everyone just wants to rip on their opponent. Some of them base their whole campaign on one thing, like abortion or the border crisis, with no telling how they really plan on handling the issue. People have waited a long time for a better option than Mr Tester and they see a knight in armor with Mr Sheehy. Again, I see some admirable traits of both men and I see some distasteful traits from both men. Who will be better for Montana? Well, I don’t mind trying any food once. And you get real tired of eating the same plate every day even if it’s prepared perfectly…. And If it’s awful, I remember…

Can't wait for the vile, insipid ads to end and the flyers to quit jamming the mailbox.

No kidding! I want to know how there's possibly any remaining 406 phone numbers available for legitimate users! 406 / spam numbers on one screenshot of calls!

Tester, Sheehy, Gianforte, Busse, D & R research robo ad! At least people chose to open this thread, vote, post, and add blue thumbs, etc. Hah!

58 votes thus far. Keep em rolling. Will be interesting to see the net result.

Ballot has been sent. Don't make me think about this anymore. 'Can't wait for the vile, insipid ads to end and the flyers to quit jamming the mailbox.
I want this political debacle to be in the rear view mirror.
Shred this thread. :D
I just completed mine this morning and I will drop it off today. Looking at it from a party standpoint, I am one of those "ticket splitting independents" that Montana is known for.

Of the volumes of mail that was sent to me and the intense bombardment of other ads and spam phone calls, I suspect this ballot would have looked the same if I had completed it in January of this year. They wasted a ton of energy and money on trying to influence me. Glad to tune it out from this point forward and deal with the voter outcome, whatever that might be.

I was told that a lot of these campaigns check with the county election offices a couple times a week to get the list of registered voters who have yet to vote. Theoretically, if you turn your ballot in those particular callers/texters will write you off. Please do, I say.

To the poll. Something I think about, as someone who had both Rs and Ds checked on their ballot, is what actually we think will happen? The legislature will be dominated by Rs - probably not a supermajority this time around - but dominated. So many of the concerns I hear people have about Busse would never come to fruition ( and I don't think he'd try most of em anyway) under the current configuration of our government.

From the perspective of a hunter, I think about vetoes and fish and game commission appointments chiefly.

Me too! I have often remarked that if all this exorbitant campaign money and all the money spent for hype and tickets for the Super Bowl were spent on cancer and other medical research, huge improvements could result for medical care of many now fatal afflictions. Obviously, societal priorities are skewed.

Im so sick of my mail box becoming a trash heap that i literally relocated my trash can adjacent to the mailbox to make the trip short.

Also - turning on the TV. The mute button might get worn out this season but at least it kills the noise.

I have no idea why this year is worse. But its dramatically worse than ive seen it.

To add to the discussion - a lot of my voting this year was different than years prior. Dont feel great about every option, but i voted based on what could happen if people were given power and not based on what i thought their principles were. Ive decided its more about getting the wrong people to do the right things instead of sending the right people.

Looking forward to the end of all the texts, phone calls, mail, and emails.

Any of us that are active communicating with State and Federal representatives - our contact info is sold or shared and i am innundated with the above...

As for the OP, Governors have great reach of influence from veto to appointments. Governors are a mold that continues until the pendulum swings the other direction.

As one who constantly votes R and D, this vote was a disappointing one to cast. I didn't have near as much reservation as my votes for Schweitzer.

I agree with most though this portion, I have strong reservations and why i do not agree.

When one is financially campaign supported by national organizations, it holds a purpose, whether it is Busse or Gianforte. There is an intent behind the funds paid to see this person become the governor.

The tables may swing in the state legislature as it does on the federal level.

I like my check and balance though I have national concerns that deal with our State that sits bordered with Canada. There are federal implications and national platforms at play far beyond our State issues.
None the less, the optics of what I view as the most formidable threat to my second amendment, the best organized anti 2A leader operating with a strong backbone, i regard Giffords as a very motivated and powerful person / leader.

Can someone help me see some of GG achievements as a republican gov? Not related to covid....

  • Increased access to public lands, including 100,000 acres in the Big Snowies alone
  • Signed House Bill 883 into law that gives $60 million to increase the pace and scale of management practices that improve forest health, reduce wildfire risk and increase wildfire preparedness. This allows 6,700 more acres of forest to be managed
  • Since assuming office, the state has put 36,000 forested acres under management, up from 11,000 in 2020
  • During his first year, the governor expanded Mount Haggin Wildlife Management Area
  • The governor also highlighted public lands successes from his first two years, identifying access deserts on every navigable river in Montana, as well as creating Bad Rock Canyon WMA, Somers Beach State Park, and the Big Snowy Mountains WMA
And don’t forget constitutional carry!

This morning while working on my sxs I had pandora on and I was curious as to what commercials will be on after this. Also yesterday I heard on the radio something along the lines of 300 million has been spent between tester and Sheehy. Tester spending 3/1 on him. The number that seems really crazy was it came out to around 486 dollars I believe it was per registered voter in mt. What a waste of money
