Gastro Gnome - Eat Better Wherever

MT - Changes in Hunting Regs/Units/Seasons coming this month

After the Vore years in the Bitterroot ended in 2008 my expectations sunk to what I figured was an all time low. I was happy to draw a raghorn permit and hunt were I have hunted for almost 50 years.

I fully expect 2022 to bring a new low.

This is constructive, thank you
Maybe i get you confused with @Gatekeeper who calls those of us unhappy folk whining little bitches...

Not gonna lie, I'm not all happy to hunt where the best you can hope for is a 2-3 year old animal that may have avoided getting killed during a 6 month hunting season if it accidentally stepped off private property. I've been hunting in MT all across the state for almost 4 decades.

Holy Shit . Negative Nellie has spoken .

I know guys that have adapted to the changing hunting conditions in Montana . Yesterday they were trying to decide where out of several places to hunt they should go opening day . They were trying to stop themselves from going off in new directions chasing new and different elk and to go where they knew elk were and kill a bigger bull .

This will mean nothing to most of you, but it is the 9th of August . Opening Day is coming fast, ditch the whoa is me attitude . The Bulls are going to be screaming in a month .

The guys that hunt Public Lands and kill good bulls every year are going to make it happen again .

It's your choice listen to Negative Nellie and risk becoming a sniveling little B----, or put on your man panties and go chase Bulls . Montana is a great place to hunt elk, you simply have to figure out where and that is actually the fun part .
I agree. I see Slammer Mulies And crazy elk numbers everywhere. Big bulls in tailgates opening weekend every year. Please don’t get your torches and pitchforks and screw up my otc elk tag. Lol

I already said that comment by gatekeeper was not a good idea, we are past this.

You clearly have more experience than me, I’m not arguing against your experiences, I’m just providing my own experiences that don’t seem to line up exactly with yours. I feel that both of these narratives could exist without you telling me I don’t know s***. To each their own

It now appears the sniveling Bitches have taken the field .
Lol I’m not sure you know the guys you are talking to you. Buzz and greenhorn do it year in and year out. But they do see a vision for better management like most western states have in place.

Prove it.

These aren’t giant deer or super old age class, but we saw a number that were all around this size, and the experience we had on this hunt was incredible for both my dad and I. I don’t care if you think they are too young or too small because they were trophies for us.

Cute

It took me 4-5 months to figure this out haha. I butted heads with Buzz immediately, but once I found out what he does for wildlife and conservation I now do my best to just stay out of it even when I don’t agree with the attitude

You did not prove it. I'm glad that you and your dad had a great hunting experience though. Nice deer and good job.
If that isn’t proof then I can’t say I fully understand your expectations, and I probably never will

Edit: and thank you

Dont really have a dog in this fight as a nr. If you want some examples of these guys expectations check out the "mule deer let's see em" thread and pay close attention to some of those Montana bucks from yesteryear especially from breaksrunner.

Edit-Maybe breaksrunner was big on the antelope thread either way. You'll see.

I’ll do that. I have looked through the thread before but I’ll focus on those ones in particular.

Not once in this conversation I’ve I tried to make the argument that these are the glory days of Montana deer hunting. 1. I wouldn’t know and 2. The small amount of research I have done says that it isn’t.

Montana does not need to be the toilet bowl of the west. And people think they should be able to come here every year and sh$t on us.
