Seems like just a few days ago, but I guess it was a month ago, that we were heading into the hills for our Montana general rifle season opener. We were joined by Beau Baty (llama man) and Lucas Burt of Leupold, along with twelve llamas that Beau felt would allow for the kind of camp he always wanted to have. It was about six miles to where we set up camp, but the scenery was worth the hike.

On this hunt, I was mostly focused on Beau and Lucas getting an elk. I knew we had more elk hunts ahead for us, so I wasn't too concerned. Marcus, Beau, and Lucas have all hunted this area before. I had never hunted here, so it was cool to get to explore some new country and put the planning and logistics in the hands of others. Probably as relaxing and stress-free of a hunt as I can remember.

This was a general unit, and as you will see, filled with a lot of other hunters who had the same idea we had.

Day 2 is the scouting day prior to opener. Not sure Beau could be more excited.

Almost forgot Snipe Hunting!

Next year will be my first year hunting elk. After watching his Colorado hunt, I’m thinking I waited to long. Getting older with bad knees I might be able to get into some of those places, but getting out with an elk would be another story.

Part 4 - Another interesting day.

Randy - Great videos and wounded game is sometimes part of hunting. God’s critters need to eat too and I bet there will not be anything wasted. They probably should have slowed down on the tracking part, or circled out in front, but hindsight is 20/20. Thanks for posting. Preston

Thanks. Tomorrow will bring a conclusion.

I've been looking forward to these videos. I was one of those other hunters on the mountain that morning and came upon Marcus and Beau shortly after daylight when they had that bull down. It was fun seeing them and chatting for a few minutes after all the hours I've spent watching your content.

Enjoyed watching and was happy to see the injured elk get taken. I'm interested in the pulley setup for hanging the game bags. Could we get some more info on exactly how he rigs it up?
