Montana mule deer rut activity

The first week of November has always been my favorite for mule deer.

I saw mule deer and whitetails sniffing does today, and I also saw a couple very drunk transients making out on the sidewalk in downtown Billings. Love is in the air.

Hunted hard all day in the wind saw 1 small dork horn alone and a doe and a fawn. Several groups crossed the road in the dark but no bucks with them. They don't seem to serious in my area and I drew a good limited permit this year.

Fwiw, I watch mule deer from my property when I'm home. They don't seem to move a lot in the wind. Ymmv. Of course, if you can only hunt on pretty windy days, I guess that's you are going to have to do.

There's an old saying - when it's breezy swing easy. The forkies and spikers all know this and are down in the bottom of the nearest canyon swingin away makin' Montana mule deer great again.
