Montana missouri breaks sheep 2025 regs.

Im not defending Bill Brown but I don’t believe this is related. His sheep are on the west side of 680. It would seem odd to me that 622 died off and 680 did not if that was the issue.
Agreed. There have been issues with sheep in this herd wandering north near some domestics. I’m guessing the same thing happened but nobody saw it took place.

I’m just going to say it…we should not be shooting bighorn ewes.
If the population of the herd exceeds the carrying capacity of the habitat, how do you suggest getting the population back in line without hunting ewes? This is an important option that needs to remain available to the biologists that manage these herds. They don't issue ewe tags when the herd counts don't exceed capacity.

If you don't want to hunt ewes, that is your choice, don't apply. Leave the biology decisions up to the professionals, however.

Relocate them.

And we’re talking about the same professionals that allowed ewe hunting in a unit that just had to be closed, correct?

A young collared ram from the Skalkaho herd was found dead this winter from respitory disease. The GPS tracking of its movements last fall during the rut were unbelievable. I believe it logged over 700 miles, up and down the river bottom. I'm sure he came in contact with someone's 4-H hobby flock of sheep or goats, during this time. Sheep will travel much more, and in places that we ever thought possible. Especially young rams.
