Gonna start something fun for the hell of it. If you could post ONLY ONE picture of your most cherished outdoor memory of Montana, what would it be? Here's mine. Aug 2012 on the summit of Granite Peak via Skytop drainage. I fullfilled my dream of being on the "top" of Montana. Now if I could only kill an elk!

My favorite memories outdoors in Montana certainly involve my family. But this picture is the desktop background for my work computer, and sometimes I space out and leave the desk for a while:

It's the end of the day after putting in nearly a dozen miles checking the two gulches in the frame while scouting for moose last year. Bathed in the creek. Threw my slippers on and laid back to watch the mountains and collect myself. I spent over a week scouting for moose prior to the season - all of it solo. I think I had more fun scouting than actually hunting. Maybe because of the difference in solitude miserable hillsides offer on hot August days, as opposed to October mornings. Maybe because I could actually relax.

Selfish MT boys!! Have to have a thread only dedicated to MT?!? Well I have only been to MT a couple of times, no reason to leave Idaho really. :) My limited times in MT haven't treated me so bad. July 2006 (I think)

Great thread! This was taken on my first Elk hunt which was also my first solo backpack hunt. I didn't have a clue what I was doing and ended up missing a great public land bull but those 5 days alone up on top is something I will never forget!!!!

Tough call, but I think my favorite memory was seeing it the rear view mirror.

You can't do Montana in ONE photo. Friend Jake Mosher snapped this of my son and me glassing for a BIG bear we'd spotted Saturday evening. This was Sunday, Father's Day, the last evening of bear season. The opposite ridge tops out at 9000+ in the Madison Range. The bear didn't show.

What a great idea.
I took this picture of my buddy without him knowing on the walk into Slough Creek

Cheers
Richard

This picture of the Bob Marshall in early September still makes my heart stop.
