monsoons

Glad things are looking good, Hank! We just had a surprise monsoon season here, too. Just wet on this side of Lake Champlain, with one washed out bridge, that I know of, but things are looking pretty grim over in Vermont.

90 by 9am and clear.
2 lightning strike fires in the Magdelena Mtns.
New AC at the gate today and too hot so I'll wait til I can get a hand manana.
Neighbor calls and says he just went thru a deluge coming back from AZ. He'll be here @ 0900. Cool.
He hangs up and the winds come and there is a wall coming this way. Big drops hit.
The flag sounds like thunder cracking now.
78 deg.
Soon.
I can smell it!
.

In the eye of the High!
Black all around and the sun shining here in the center.
A big blob of green, yellow and red on the radar, open in the middle .
It's heading this way.
Winds flatten trees and they spring back.
And with a boom the eye shuts.
Rio leaves the string cheese and heads to his bed.
Soon.

Looks like finally some decent rain in my draw unit to your west. I don't think it got any rain in June, so this is nice to see. I will say you have some odd weather down there. Forecasters have to really earn their paycheck. Enjoy the rain Hank.

We're spinning small storms across NM now. Ruidoso, Magdalena Mtns, the Gila.
Flood watches over the burn scars. Black Mtns and Hermits.
Excessive heat watches for the low lands. 111 in Roswell.
The eye heads to the 4 corners tomorrow.
The door here is open.
Green on the radar is good.

Heat dome heading north. Check out this forecast for the central CO rockies above 9000 elevation:

It looks like it will wobble around for a week more.
Alb. 100+ for a week. PHX 110+ for 2 weeks. Denver will hit 100 this week. 90's in Santa Fe.

We got spit on again, but it's 75 now and a nice breeze flowing. House wide open, shopfan blowing us cool. Still a chance of showers tonight.
SW mtns will get the storms going manana.
The snow just melted from the high peaks of the White Mtns.
Give us some rains and it will be swell. 70% chance of T-storms here manana.

Been hot and dry in ABQ, the monsoon is late this year. Got spit on a few times with 0.01", but that does no good. Been driving thru eastern NM a few times and it was super green a month ago, but drying out now.

92 and the new ac works great.
Cloud cover has broken up and now reforming into thunderheads.
We only got spit on again.
Dennis petted Rio and got a handful of pitch. Rio supervised the installation. I had to move a pile of bones.
Dennis complained that I have all the wildflowers so far. I replied he gets the deer in his yard.
The gate area was covered in elk tracks.
We need some downpours. Soon.

Damn Hot!.
Even with some cloud cover it's hot up here @ 7500'.
Trying and spitting.
The monsoon forecast from NOAA is spot on for this year. Looks to be late and will roll thru Oct.
El Nino firmly in place early. Affecting the whole country.
Another week or so of this here. High terrain storms that don't amount to much. Yet.
There are grasses and such growing. Pinion trees say rain on way. Loading up with cones.

91 outside and it's 76 in the house. Rio , the elk and I have 46deg. well water .

Stay hydrated kids!

Finally a shower. Maybe a .10"th?
Cell planted here and we even got 2 rainbows at sunset. A few deep rumbles.
The Gila got some heavy rains.
Luckily we're in a area clear of excessive heat today. LOL
Quemado could hit 100 still.
61 this morning and elevation will be our friend, again.
A cool breeze and some happy birdies out there this morn.

Records to be broken today across NM.
One or two more days of this till it breaks they say.

Gotta head into Alb. to meet my new Dr. on Wed. and I'll have to leave Rio inside at home.
Rain in forecast then. Perfect for the freshly graded road...LOL
Come on monsoons.
