For anyone that knew Mike, he just passed after a bout with heart disease as a result of poor care at a hospital several years ago.

He was a great person and well liked as a gun writer.

This is a sad day for those that knew him…

Didn't know him personally, but he was the guiding source for most of my learnings & gear selection & practices for shooting Sharps rifles. Few were at his level in his craft.

My dad and Mr Venturino had a friend in common who allowed friends to shoot at a small range on his property. As a young dude I enjoyed picking around behind the target after Duke had been shooting his Sharps. Big old chunks of lead that looked they could be pressed right back into the case were a fun find.

He was actually a client of my wife's. Funny story, first thing he asked my wife before becoming a client was if she was a "gun person ". She said damn right I'm packing right now. They both laughed and from then he was her client. Really, really nice guy. Sad loss for sure.

Mikes passing is a huge loss to all who knew him. Been shooting silhouette with Mike off and on since 2013. I learned a lot from him and from his friendship during the years. He sold me his Shiloh Sharps he had built in 2004 3 summers ago. It has become my favorite silhouette rifle. It's an honor to own it.

RIP Mike
