Burned a few points and took advantage of the mentoring program to get my 12 yo his first big game hunt.
Many years ago my first hunt was on my dad's antelope tag as well.
Because of sports, school, work and life we missed the opener and would get there mid week. Not the worst thing.
We drove a bit through the unit.
Saw a few antelope and feral horses.

A few bucks but nothing he was to excited about.
Stopped for breakfast and glassed multiple antelope but still not the one for him.
Drove to a new zone with antelope as part of the named geography.

He spotted a buck on a ridge that looked promising and on the way over this one popped out of a wash. It was the one for him and he made a great shot at 200. Antelope ran 15 ft and tipped over.
Did the hug, pics and cutting.
With the antelope in the cooler we did so.e sightseeing.
