Meet "The Rev" (Pretty Cool)

My oldest son has been involved with falconry since he was in high school in one facet or another. However he had to take a long break while serving a mission and then going to college. Now he's about done with college, has a good job, and has a little time for things he enjoys again. So he got all his licenses and legal papers updated, and back in order, so he can participate in falconry again. He was able to obtain this beautiful little male kestrel. I'm sure they will have fun chasing everything from grasshoppers to small birds over the next year. He named the bird "The Rev". So without further delay meet The Rev.

Actually I'm pretty proud of my boy. At the time when he first became a licensed falconer he was the youngest ever to be licensed in the state of Montana. I don't know if anyone younger has since been licensed or not. What I do know is that it takes quite a bit of time and effort (including a comprehensive test) to get licensed in Montana. There is so much required that there aren't a ton of people that actually go to all the effort/hassle to do it. For those that love it though, they seem to really have a good time with it.

Awesome! Have him check out the "Falconry Friday" posts on the fire. That guy and his family have two Harris Hawks and a Redtail that they hunt. He's a vet (animal kind) so has posted some info about the non-hunting aspects as well. The pics and video's he posts are very fun to watch.
