Mangy mountain goats

Nice pics; as always! Thanks for sharing. Would love to have country like that to hike into on weekends.

Great pics! Can't wait to hunt them again on Kodiak.

Very nice! Were you able to get any ID marks off the collar through a spotter or binos?

Very nice pictures. Thanks for sharing.

Working on my goat identification skills.

I've got those all down as nanny's. Anyone else hazard a guess?

I couldn't turn any in to Billies either.

Great pictures Miller.

Here's my thoughts on them.

Pic # 1 Nanny for sure. Long thin horns, almost could get a full width of a horn between the bases in the center of her forehead. Also this time of year it makes it easier as nannies shed their winter coats last.

Pic # 2 could possibly be a younger billy, bases are a little bigger than the eye and a pretty good curve to the horn.

Pic # 3 the sub adult on the left is most likely a billy, his bases are already as big as the adult female in the middle.

Pic #4 could also possibly be a young billy, can't see the bases, but they are getting pretty big before they are covered up by the ear.

Paden, I agree with your assessment. Pretty sure it is the same goat in those pics. Obviously I got a much better look than you guys, but couldn't be sure it was a billy. Although I think it is a billy, it wouldn't be a shooter. I think a mature billy is pretty easy to identify.

Looking forward to hearing about some goat hunts in a couple months. That means lots of pictures you lucky bastages.:D

I sure hope that those nasty old goats can't pass that skin condition to cattle.
